Subject: [ferrethealth] Re:low carb chicken free diet? (no corn, grains, or plant material)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

A friend of mine is in the same boat so I did a little online research for her yesterday. Here is my email back to her:

I have found some canned chicken-free varieties. It won't be good for his teeth, so you'll have to brush them and give him bones or something to chew on for dental care.

Remember to take moisture into account - 9% protein with 75% moisture equates to 36% protein.

I purposely stayed away from the fish-based foods, but there are lots of those out there!

10) I bought the wildlife whole prey pet food whole laying hen formula (http://cp12.heritagewebdesign.com/~harrpet1/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5&zenid=be246f0d1e8b5eee3276bceaf9f56a90) and mine had no trouble eating a gruel made of it. I'm not sure if hens will cause the same problems as chickens, in fact, could they be the same thing?

11) Newman's Own Organics Canned Cat Food (http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Newmans-Own-Organics-Canned-Cat-Food/144018.aspx)

12) ZiwiPeak (http://www.ziwipeak.com/Products/ZiwiPeak-Cuisine/)

By the way, I'm not in the medical field, a DVM, a nutritionist, or in anyway related to the pet industry. I just did an internet search, and found what food I could (which is difficult given my company firewalls)
