Subject: [ferrethealth] Re:low carb chicken free diet? (no corn, grains, or plant material)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

i was already feeding a mix of evo cat and evo dog red bites when it
became obvious that my simba had ibd. i took out the cat evo and
just gave her the red bites.

i also changed the way i made the soup/gravy so that i did batches
of only one meat (not mixed as i'd done previously) so that she
would only get the turkey and lamb.

i'd tried the canned stuff from the vet - although she liked it, i
didn't because it had some grains in it and chicken although it's
highly processed so it doesn't irritate the system.

a couple of months before she passed, i found out about the evo
canned 95% meat. oh, boy! did that go over like i can't tell you!!
she just loved the rabbit version!! they also have chicken/turkey
(which i didn't use with her for the chicken in it), beef, venison
and duck. the duck i tried as well - and she liked it. her body
didn't - it was just too rich so the rest of the kids got to finish
that can up.

i wish i'd found out about that canned stuff sooner - i think it
would have been the difference for her. as it was, things were too
far progressed and nothing was working for her any longer.

i wish you luck in finding a diet that works for your little one!!
and, remember, it'll need to be modified periodically as the system
gets adjusted and/or when things occur that upset the balance.

thanks, everyone, for the additional info about the other foods that
are available...good info to have for the future. although, i hope
to never need it again, i know i probably will.
