Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Fatty's Head Tumor
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My girfriend had a boy that had a tunor on his head that looked just
like yours. It was a hard mass of bone on top of his head, he was
also a surrender along with his cage mates. His name was Houdini,
and he was the happiest boy. He loved to play, and the tumor didn't
seem to hurt him, though he would bump it trying to crawl under
things. Her vet took xrays, and they tought about removing it, but
the vet was afraid he would clip into the brain. The mass didn't
invade the brain, it was just on the outside. After a few months,
the tumor started to grow larger behind the head, around the ear
area. It got to the point where he couldn't close his jaw and eating
became difficult, he couldn't chew his kibble, and had a hard time
lapping up soup too. She talked to the head vet at [university veterinary clinic], though I'm not sure what the outcome was. When he
couldn't eat anymore, it was decided to put him to sleep. Maybe if
they could have gotten to the tumor before it became so large,
surgery might have worked.

It sounds like maybe your boy's tumor is cutting off the nerves to
his legs. Not sure it would help, but what about acupunture? Maybe
the vet could release the nerves going to his legs, not sure if that
can really even be done.
If you want to email me, I'd be happy to give you my girlfriends
email address so you can talk to her about her boy Houdini, and what
the [university veterinary clinic] vet said. Houdini looked just like your boy, same
coloring and everything.
Good luck.
