If your vet is not comfortable with operating on a right adrenal tumor then certain Lupron
Depot along with melatonin implant is the way to go while monitoring in case otehr meds
wind up needed.

Some vets have had excellent results with that medical approach. Interestingly, the ones I
have heard of like that seem to be (predominantly? entirely?) in the more northern portion
of the U.S. That possible difference (which may be perceptual, may be an artifact, or may
be real) has been noticed before including by a Lupron researcher, Dr. Catherine Delaney
Johnson, too, which is why her study is expanding to other areas now, a really logical and
responsible extension of her work.

Does that mean that right adrenal surgery is always out, or even out most of the times for
vets who are comfortable with the surgery? No, of course not. Many do that surgery
regularly.

Possible complications include the tumor having grown into or pressing against
neighboring structures like the liver or Vena Cava. You will find information in the
archives on how vets tell if it is safe enough to risk ligating the Vena Cava but that is
better avoided except if absolutely needed because it does tend to come with its risks and
burdens.

And remember that if a remaining adrenal is atrophied or if both come out cleanly then
the products of the adrenal cortex will need to be replaced with Fludorcort of Percorten
and with each a steroid like Prednisolone in tiny amounts.
