Subject: [ferrethealth] Administrative Note: why the FHL stays on topic and when moderators have too busy lives
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Jennifer brings up the need to stay on topic. Even someone whose time
online is limited right now can answer that. It's for the same reason
that private notes are asked to be sent directly to the posters. And
what is that reason? A: to keep vet, vet tech, and vet student
membership. All of those people tend to lack much free time so...

Anyway, now members should understand why it is important. Besides
weeding out the spam messages (Yuck!) the FHL certainly gets its share
of OT ones or partial OT content for moderators to contact members to
rewrite or for the moderators to edit. That, and the other
administrative chores add up and all of of us moderators have very
full lives.

No one meant to be harsh with you, Jennifer. I think I was the one
who replied to you. Apologies if a short reminder seemed harsh, but
along with my portion of the FHL work I have recently been dealing
with my father's sickness, his death, and the chores afterward, a dear
friend's sickness and death, a decent sized surgery, a smaller surgery
on my worse eye (for glaucoma) which now limits my time on-line for a
little while, some other of life's needs and family needs, and next
month if Tuesday's surgery goes well then laser surgery on my better
eye to also reduce ocular pressure there. There is no way for members
to know that behind the scenes every one of us moderators has a
complete life nor that each of us has worked when sick or when dealing
with life's other very demanding needs, but when we do so it does mean
that we don't have much time for explanations, so short explanations
are not meant to be harsh -- they simply are us getting the job done
in the reduced amount of time available.
