Subject: [ferrethealth] Melatonin Implants-Your Opinion
We have 19 ferrets receiving melatonin inplants every 4 months to
prevent adrenal disease. 8 of the 19 have documented adrenal disease
and they receive varying doses of monthly Lupron along with the implant.
I read an article in a recent Ferrets magazine updating the "big three",
insulinoma, lymphosarcoma, and adrenal disease. The adrenal portion
suggested that the melatonin implants may not be effective and indeed
may have a downside. Are your ferrets receiving melatonin implants and
what are your vet's thoughts.?
Thanks
Stephen
