Subject: [ferrethealth] insulinoma and ferretone
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi,

I have a ferret with insulinoma that has been resistant to treatment.
He's about 6 1/2 years old, so between his age and the inability to
stabilize the insulinoma we've been very cautious about the
possibility of surgery. Recently, our vet said that I should be very
sparing with the ferretone and only use it when he's crashing. I got
her to very definitely confirm that she really did mean ferretone, and
not ferretvite - there was a bottle on the counter and I specifically
asked "you mean this stuff?"

Has anyone else been told this, or does anyone know why it would be a
bad idea? I know diabetics are often told to try low-fat diets, but
had never heard anything about fats spiking blood sugar.

Thanks
