It's important to divide the DAILY dosage of Prednisolone into three equal amounts, given 8 hours apart. The Pred is metabolized by the body within 8 or 9 hours, so if you only give it twice a day, 12 hours apart, then you are leaving him with a 3 or 4 hour window when he is not protected by the medicine. He also needs to eat every 4 hours in order to keep food in his system to fight off the excess insulin. One or both of these could be the reason why he is crashing every morning. Personally, I don't see why Ferretone would be something to avoid, as long as long as the Pred and food are given at regular intervals. We gave a little Ferretone daily when managing insulinoma and didn't have any problems.
