Responded in error to help my ferrets are fighting....please post this under
insulinoma & Ferretone..thank you..sorry.

I have had tremendous success by giving supplimental feedings w/HIGH protein.
I give these feedings 4x daily every 6hours.

So my ferrets get it at 7am, 12pm, 6pm and around 12am before bed EVERY
Single day at the same time.
The constant protein in the body...keeps the sugar regulated throughout the
day. They also get their prednisilone (which I hear is easily disgested and
absorbed) at the same exact time daily 7am and 6pm (aprox. 12hrs apart).

I have had much luck w/this routine with all of my insulinomic
ferrets...keeping all stable for VERY long periods of time. It is a TREMENDOUS amount of
work, and a HUGE sacrafice...but I feel they are well worth it.

I feed Gerbers 2nd stage Turkey babyfood (because my guys also have IBD). I
grind kibble (TF baby formula or natural gold have the lowest carbohydrate)
soak in water and then add the babyfood just before heating and feed by hand
4xs daily. (This is cause my guy wont eat on his own...he eats about 1jar of
baby food daily).

For my guys that willtake kibble on thier own..they eat TF baby formula and
split 1 jar of babyfood as a treat in tat 7am and at 6pm (3ferrets split
this)...however I would rec. your guy getting the babyfood 4xs daily (if not then
at least 3xs daily) so you "KNOW" there is always food, more specifically
protein in his system.

Once opened the jar will go bad in 24hrs.
I have kept my guys stable for up to 3yrs this way w/o ever increasing
meds....

BEST of luck to you,

Judy from NJ
