Jeff,

First of all, thank you very munch for your help.

I=B4ve done some reserach about Famotidine and its brands here in
Brazil. Apparently Bayer is the most reliable brand among the ones
that produce it, so I downloaded medicine instructions from their
website to read them.

Instructions say this medicine is not recommended in cases where
there is digestive tract cancer - of course this warning is for human
use. As there is a huge chance of the ferret to have any cancer like
this, what do you suggest? Maybe this restriction applies to human
but not to ferrets?

Anyway, I managed to talk to my vet, who recommended dimethicone. I
started it last night, so it=B4s a little early to tell anything for
sure, but this morning I saw my little one going to the newspaper
corner and urinating / defecating without passing any gas. As the vet
clearly explained to me, dimethicone will not cure anything, it is
only able to relief the pain and discomfort that gas causes. So this
is not the answer and does not replace Famotidine or other medicine
that might be necessary.

We=B4ll still working on finding out the cure for all this gas, if
there is any cure. I=B4ll take the ferret to be examinated and to have
an ultrassound exam performed this week. Now that he seems not to be
in pain, I believe it will be less stressfull to him to be examinated.

As far as I=B4ve researched, ferrets passing gas seems a little bit
unusual, so I=B4ll keep updating this post hoping that maybe it can
help anyone else who might have the same problem.

Again, thanks a lot. All your inputs are welcome.

use distilled water). Administer 0.25 ml of this solution twice
daily. That is the equivalent of 1/8 of a tablet daily, or 1.25 mg of
the active ingredient Famotidine daily. You have to shake the
container briskly each time before drawing the 0.25 ml because there
is some settling of the dissolved tablet. We keep it refridgerated.
