Lisa, anyone -- including vets -- can have a ferret who has something
with sudden onset or hidden symptoms. Luckily, those individuals are
very rare.

I know how you feel, though. One of our first few ferrets developed
JL as a kit. We seriously thought twice about ever adding any more
ferrets but since we have now had ferrets in our family for about
27 years it's obvious that we continued and learned. These things feel
like body blow, but they are rare. Take heart from that, please.

I LOVE your idea of having your vet teach you hands on! That is such
a responsible, intelligent, and loving thing to do!
