Is it possible that she's blind? If so, it would answer a lot of questions,
I think. If her previous home meant she spent most or all of her time in
that tiny cage with no stimulation, playtime, etc... even if she isn't
blind, then even that alone could make the world frightening for her right
now.

There are many knowledgeable folks on this list who could elaborate on the
possibility of Ember being blind, how to test for this, and how to go about
scent marking (is that the correct term?), handling her, and so forth. I've
never had a blind fuzzy myself, but that was my first thought when reading
your post; that she could be blind.

I'm relieved that little girl is with you.
