Subject: [ferrethealth] Sucralfate/ Carafate
To: "FHL" <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

My Bobby, 8 years old, has started grinding his teeth when eating so I thought it may be a good idea to try him on Sucralfate. My husband just fetched it from the vets, I was expecting a suspension but got 1 g tablets. I was wondering whether it would be possible to dissolve a tablet in water. Would it keep and stay active for 3 days?

Bobby is also on Benazepril (0.5 mg once a day), Furosemide (3 mg twice a day) and Prednisolone (0.5 mg twice a day). He's been on the medications for almost 9 months. How long do I need to wait after giving Sucralfate before I give the other medications? Was it half an hour? Is it given 3 or 4 times a day? I once gave it to a ferret 3 times a day but just read 4 times a day in the archives.
