Steroids are used for OTHER types of adrenal disease but not in Adrenal Associated
Endocrinopathy -- typical ferret adrenal disease, so mostly they would be like not
treating.

Also, ferrets with adrenal disease can go to a pronounced pear shape with fat
redistribution and the most commonly used steroids can increase the laying down of fat
so that quality of life issue can worsen.

More seriously, ferrets with untreated problems including untreated adrenal disease are
more prone to ulcers, and steroids can increase the ulcer risk, too. Did you vet tell you to
be sure to provide food when the steroids are given? That is important.

Now, if what your ferret has in insulinoma then steroids like Prednisolone are used and
absolutely important.

Lysodren, on the other hand is a med that used to be used with ferret adrenal disease
with more pronounced results because sometimes it doesn't work at all, but other times
when it does work it can also cause atrophy of the healthy adrenal (something we
encountered maybe 17 years ago or so) and then Addisons Crises can occur and can be
fatal if not caught in time.

What symptoms does this ferret have? What tests have been done?
