This vet comes highly recommended I've heard nothing bad about him
except that the wait to see him is long sometimes. I was referred to
him in a round about way through this or the AFA list. <

Please don't "assume" that a recommendation on a vet in this, or any, list
means they are ferret savvy. Those lists are done with input by
people like you and me, and the vets' ferret expertise are not
checked out by anyone. That's not to say that there aren't good vets
on these lists, but you have no idea what the knowledge is of the
ferret owner who recommended them. Try to get your recommendations
from people you personally know in your area, or people you know to
be experienced with ferrets, such as a local ferret shelter or rescue.

Your information seems confused. I think you need to talk to the vet
again, and get all of the details straight. Ask him to give you a
call when he has some time to talk to you. It sounds like there was
too much to remember without writing all of it down.
