I am so sorry to hear this news. Many cancers do not cause changes in routine bloodwork or even more specialized bloodwork, because that is not how it is diganosed. Many cancers have to be diagnosed through physical exam and with a thorough ultrasound performed by a knowledgable ultrasonographer. Please keep in mind for the future to have your ferrets ultrasounded annually to allow for early detection of many forms of cancer.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss

I am sadden to spread the word, but my baby passed away in my arms last
night, despite all the efforts I did to save him. I will know more once
I get the autopsy results back, but my vet is almost certain that he
had cancer due to the last minute englarged prostate that we found. I
am saddened by his death and feel like there was something more I
should have been able to do to help him. All of his blood work always
came back as ok. Why didn't it show? We just had his last work up done
less than 7 months ago, something should have shown. I am not going to
turn my back on fuzzies as I know there will be another one out there,
just as I saved my Bandit from the torture that he was in as a baby. I
am going to take time to mourn the lose of my baby for a while though.
I am lost and sad and missing him so much already. It is too quiet
without my silly little fuzzy butt acting goofy and being a nut. Thank
you all for your kind words and help in trying to make him better.
Unfortuantely, it was just his time to go home.
