That sure fits for adrenal disease taking off like gang-busters.
With his lethargy I am worried that he might also have the
anemia complication which can happen (luckily not commonly)
with adrenal disease, that his adrenal tumor might be one of
the malignant ones, or that he might have another
endocrinological disease which sometimes (though far from
always) can occur simultaneously: insulinoma. Notice that
there are treatments for most ferret medical problems, though
not for all. Some are for quality of life; some are for both quality
and quantity of life.
I am hoping that your vet consults with a ferret-knowledgeable
vet there and have tried to help on that score but some things
can only be figured out with testing. Luckily, many tests are
stress-free or low stress. Ultrasound can be done without
anesthesia. Ditto x-rays. There are even low stress approaches
for drawing blood which have been discussed in past FHLs and
can be found in
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
Tip: when weighing your ferret just put him in a container with
some treat (both already weighed) on top of a good food scale
or good mail scale. Not only is there no stress but there is joy.
What volume of food and fluid are going in?
