That sounds like adrenal hot spots, another symptom of adrenal
disease.

Not nearly enough food. That would definitely explain the weight
loss. He needs probably three to four times that much. If you are
having trouble getting it into him, sometimes something as simple as
making a soup with their kibble will get them interested in food. I
dump about a cup of kibble and soak it in 2-3 cups of water until it
is totally softened. I then run it through the blender, adding more
water if needed, until it is a soup. Mine seem to consider it a
treat! This will get more food into him, as well as needed fluids.

Of course, with adrenal disease, keep a close watch on his urination
to make sure his prostate isn't swelling. That can be life-
threatening.
