Subject: [ferrethealth] Hello & a few questions.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My name is Kara, I am 25, my boyfriend & I have two ferrets- pixie &
lily. I have owned bunnies & hamstersm but never ferrets, my
boyfriend has owned a few. Both ferrets were bought off of people
selling them, here are their stories. We bought Pixie from a girl who
bought her from a pet store, she has a black dot in her ear, which
means she came from a ferret farm. Pixie is very playful & active,
but she doesn't use the litter box. She has dug all the litter out &
gone in either the corner of the empty box. We have tried moving the
box in the corner & swithched to a different type of litter, but she
moves it, she lays in it, she displays different behavior with it
all. Now for Lily, I got her this Tuesday off of a lady who bought it
off of a guy, she is very underweight, a tad lethargic, & DOES NOT
attempt or look at the litter box. The lady said when she got Lily
that she couldn't get her to use the box either, & that she was even
underweight when she got her. Since she has been here with us, she
has been eating a lot. I have noticed a little weight gain. If you
walk up to the cage she looks at you, unlike Pixie she isn't eager to
get up & want out. Also they said she had a problem with
constipation, but I haven't noticed any, she seems to be going in all
corners. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with the box
training? I had a woman try to help but I think I accidentally erased
her email. My boyfriend wants to find someone & pay them to help
trian, but I don't think you can fully train them.
