Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Case of Canine Distemper in Ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Once I get the tissues back for confimation I will also have a longer
discussion with source etc. We need to find out as much as possible.
And you are right about vaccines, with shortages in some areas, with
some using expired vaccines (I have seen it), and others just bypassing
since they haven't seen any cases of it, it becomes more worrisome as
time goes by. If I find anything else out I will let you know. I know
the vet that saw the ferret first was out of town. I will make sure
the pet shop notifies them. Thanks everyone. BTW incubation can be as
short as 10 days or as long as just over 40days so that is a long
timeframe to try to deal with where it was picked up. I suspect the
middleman between Marshall's and the Pet Shop but it is all speculation
until we can if we can find out more. Thanks.

Out of curiosity does anyone know of any pet store sources other then
Marshalls?

Dr. Sue
