I would guesstimate there are at least 40 pet shops in the Metro Detroit area selling MF kits at any given time (if not twice that many stores, especially if you expand the Metro Area a bit), so I've never thought there might be a problem at the factory (in this area that's Marshall Farms 90% of the time) - simply because there would be hundreds affected at any given time. So I suspect a common way station. Ferrets usually stop somewhere along the way to the pet shop; I don't know of a local shop that imports from MF directly rather than use a brokerage.
