Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Ferret Distemper Vaccine
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Last year my vet was seeing more ferrets have a reaction to the
distemper vaccinations. Their standard practice now is to pretreat
with an injection of Benadryl (instead of me pretreating with the
childrens, as they can give a better dosage), waiting 15 minutes,
then giving the distemper, and then keeping them in the back for one
hour before allowing them to leave. If I remember correctly the
reactions were happening within 1/2 hour. They do the same for the
rabies vaccinations.
