Thank you all for your advice and information. My younger ferrets, Piper and Gizmo, were
the ones that had the reaction. They both received the children's benadryl 1 hour before the
appointment. They had their rabies vaccination in December, but I didn't have them then, so
I don't know exactly how they reacted to that particular shot. My older two ferrets, Champ
and Snickers, also received the benedryl 1 hour before the appointment, but they didn't have
any reactions at all to the shot. Their rabies shots were in February. I didn't think they
should get the shots at the same time. And I wasn't asking what distemper was, just about
the reaction. But thank you anyway for the information that you provided! As to what
distemper shots they all received, I didn't get any details about it, just the receipt. I'm sure
the vet will have written it down in the records for next time. Piper and Gizmo probably
won't be getting the distemper vaccine, or at least that particular one, next year. Maybe they
were too young?
