Why is the Azium being used instead of Prednisolone? Prednisolone usually gives better
control and is easier to adjust.
I don't know if Azium comes in multiple concentrations but if it does then knowing only
the volume does not give the amount of medication. What ultimately matters is the
weight of med. When only volume is given then the concentration is needed to figure out
how much med is given.
300 is still a diabetic level.
The Azium level could be too high.
The first step is to see if adjusting that or switching to Prednisolone would work better. If
not, then removing the implant could make sense.
Instead of drops -- which can get very inaccurate have the vet provide a very small
syringe and then remove the needle and measure the meds in that to a set ml (cc) level.
Remember that human glucometers do NOT measure ferret blood glucose levels
accurately. They are used not for numbers as much as seeing if there is a chance in
direction of the glucose level so an at-home test is not necessarily accurate. Also, in set-
out blood tests for glucose a person has to always remember that ferret blood continues
to gobble blood sugar and the number can look lower than it actually it if a long enough
time occurs between the blood draw and the reading.
