Subject: [ferrethealth] taking blood for glucose check, prolapse rectum
Our vet uses the tip of the tail technique. After rubbing the tip of
the tail and separating the fur, one can distract the ferret with
ferretone while the tip of the tail is poked.
There are very good instructions showing how to take blood from a paw
pad at -
http://www.unc.edu/~pjdutche/bloodsugar/
Some people will take blood from an ear. Some will clip a nail too
short.
Tucks and Preparation H have been recommended for prolapse rectums.
I've used vaseline with good results.
