I have never had a ferret descented when given a choice. I always
have had one or two with intact anal glands. I also have never had to
express the anal glands on any of them who do retain them, nor has my
vet. I know it is done routinely with dogs (my groomer expresses my
dogs glands when she grooms them), but have never heard of it as a
routine practice with ferrets. Interesting.
