Subject: [ferrethealth] Cloudy Cornea in a 3 year old male
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Last week I noticed my 3 year old had one eye that was clouded over.
I immediately took him to the vet who thought either infection or
fatty infiltration in the cornea (no trauma seen on staining test) and
did not think cataract as this seems to have come on suddenly. He has
been on antibiotic eye gel for one week and no change. We are going
to a pet opthamologist tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone had ferret
eye issues that caused clouded lenses.

How fast can a cataract come on (he had yearly checkup in beginning
feb)?
Any diet deficiencies seen to cause this in ferrets (vitamin A, too much fat)?

Thanks

scott
