Well, among the possibilities (but not all of the possibilities)
are:
tension (but it does not sound like that to me)
coccidia (and for that the fecals would need to be checked
around 5 sequential days during the diarrhea till found
and BOTH genera of coccidia that ferrets get would need
to be looked for, not just the one cat and dog vets most
often look for

ECE
Like you I think that the coronavirus ECE is a strong possibility
here. It fits very, very well.
