Compounding is actually a pharmacological specialty ( just as there
are specialties for people who have doctorates in other fields and
then do specialty training or post-doctorates in things like
veterinary medicine, or in human medicine, or physics, or... so
specialty pharmacies which are specifically compounding pharmacies
tend to usually be a far better bet than a standard pharmacist who
does a little compounding now or then in terms of what can be done,
what can be gotten, knowing what a given med should not be mixed with
to avoid impairment of function (since not all should be exposed to
water, not all should be exposed to fats, etc.), and much more.

I'm happy to say that the one we use here in New Jersey (which ships
as many compounding pharmacies do) was the first in NJ to meet the
