Subject: [ferrethealth] A very humane way of helping our babies to the bridge.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

May I suggest a humane way of letting one of our babies go in peace.
I recently had to help my little old man Milo to the bridge. The vet
that I go to suggested a way that I have never heard of before but
when she told me I immediately accepted it. I have never heard of
this method before but would like to share it with everyone I can.
She told me that she used a dogs mask where half of the Milo's body
would fit into, squirt the inside of the mask with tone then wrap a
towel around Milo's body and the mask so the gas wouldn't escape.
This way Milo would be enjoying his tone until he fell asleep under
the anesthesia and after he fell asleep the needle stick would be
performed. Usually they squirm with the smell of the gas but not
with the tone.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to go into the room where the gas was but
when they vet came back in to tell me how it went she told me that it
went very smooth and they even had to unwrap Milo and squirt more
tone into the mask for him. That's my boy! I tone boy to the
end!! On the way home I felt so at peace with my decision,
knowing that he did not have to suffer in the end and went with
dignity.
