Observe your mother's behavior to see if what she does
encourages the behavior.

Also consider scents. I've read of situations in which
certain moisturizers or perfumes were stopped and the
nipping stopped.

When an animal misbehaves it is very, very, very often
the human who needs the training, rather than the animal.

Once the human changes behavior the animal's behavior
changes for the better.
