Subject: [ferrethealth] Reaction to Prednisolone?
To: Ferret Health <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Hey everyone. I have a bit of a weird situation going
on with Bear, my 7 year old insulinomic ferret. He's
been doing much better the past few months since we
increased his dosage of pred. However, within the
last couple of weeks I'm noticing a bit of a pattern
with him. In the mornings, I give him pepto, food and
then his meds (pred and diazoxide). Regardless of
anything I do, Bear starts spitting, coughing and
pawing at his mouth within 20 to 30 min of taking the
pred/diazoxide. I've tried giving him just the pred
and no diazoxide and I get the same reaction. I tried
waiting 15 min instead of 10 after the pepto and
again, no change. The odd thing is that the other two
times a day he gets his meds, he is totally fine. His
pawing at the mouth reaction is only in the morning.
Anyone have any thoughts as to why this might be?

Thanks as always.

Michelle
