Subject: [ferrethealth] 7 year old partial paralysis
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hello, I have a 7 year old male that just came into the shelter/home.
He was fine the first two days he was here, playing like crazy. Then
he stopped using his back legs. He drags them behind him. The vet
said it appears on the xray that there is a slimming between two of his
vertebrae, but she couldn't say if that had anything to do with it or
not.
He did have surgery to remove a lump from under his front "leg" and to
get neutered and that went well, and his blood work looked good, except
for a 69 BG.
What is really confusing me is when I wash him off, he can move his
back legs. The minute they get wet he starts moving them all over the
place. Could water therapy maybe help him get the use of his legs
back? If so, can anyone give me some suggestions on what exercises to
try?
Or any suggestions on what else this could be would be greatly
appreciated.
Quan and I thank you!
Tracy
