Theophylline is one of those medications that can have some serious side
effects, and can build up into toxic levels reasonably easily. I just prescribed
it for a dog, in fact, and had the pharmacist quiz me on whether we planned on
running blood level screens, as he was so concerned about possible toxicity.
Not saying don't use it, it's a great drug for some things, just a caution.
