I don't know if there are long-term adverse effects of being on antibiotics, but one thing to remember is that the antibiotic will kill off the bad AND good bacteria in the digestive tract. So, it would probably be a good idea to supplement the soup with part of a dissolved acidophilus tablet. I do this whenever one of ours is on antibiotics, and I usually also do it once a week just to keep up the good bacteria in their digestive tracts. Our girl (Trinny) with IBD has been responding well to this as part of her changed diet and a small daily dose of Prednisolone.
