Subject: [ferrethealth] Tail dying?
To: "FHL" <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Yesterday my ferret Ruby's tail was very red and sore looking and weeping.
It looked awful like the skin was dissolving. I know new boy Snoopy was
cleaning it but I don't think he caused it, he was just cleaning what I
thought was dirt but maybe the tail had scabbed over. Took Ruby to the vets
and she said the tip (about 1/4) was dying. It's hard and my vet wants to
amputate the tail. We're waiting until Tuesday to see what happens (whether
the tail gets worse or not so we know how much we need to take off) but Ruby
may be left with a little stump only.

Has anybody ever had this and what could have caused it?

Ulrike
