Subject: [ferrethealth] Diarrhea help needed

Dear all,
I am struggling with a diarrhea problem with my four-year old lady
ferret. (she just turned four).She had some really bad diarrhea last
night. I gave her pumpkin (canned, maybe 2 tbsp) mixed in with a soup
recipe (uncle jim's duk soup powder with some gerber chicken baby food
and some slippery elm bark powder and echinaceea). She was slightly
dehydrated last night so I gave her powdered electrolytes in a syringe
and then she had good poops today and then tonight she has really bad
poops again. Her poops are REALLY bad. I never saw such diarrhea. It
is a puddle of brown poo. Not much mucus, just a puddle of smelly poo.
I have never seen it like that before. What should I do?? More
pumpkin? She HATES it unless I give it with the soup. What can i give
her to firm up her poos??? argh.... She doesn't seem very dehydrated
today, but that can change so quickly. I feel like I am doing
something wrong because the diarrhea went away and even though I gave
her pumpkin this morning too, it came back tonight. And then it seems
that my other ferret started having diarrhea too, but a different
kind, so it might be a coincidence!
Any suggestions? I did try internet search suggestions, but I can't
get it under control. She seems fine otherwise!
