I suspect that the makers of Ferretone are careful about the amount.

Cod liver oil has a lot of Vitamin D and Vitamin A ( the second of
which which does NOT seem to be the big concern for ferrets that
it is for humans if over-done). In dogs and ferrets too much
Vitamin D has been linked with too much blood calcium and
depositions of it that can be problematic according to a study I have
encountered and a talk with a veterinary nutritionist.

I can't recall if amounts have been studied for fish oil to see what
is best. The archives might say:
