Subject: [ferrethealth] Montana's X-ray results
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
Monty saw the vet on Wednesday, and we had the x-ray taken. The results
were kind of a good news/bad news deal. However, in this case, the good
news far outweighs the bad.
The good news was that the tumor is not invading the lung, or eating the
ribs. It has grown noticeably in just 2 weeks, but is not doing any damage
to the surrounding tissue, so my vet now thinks the pathology report may be
right and it might be a benign fibroma.
The bad news is that in the x-ray, Monty's heart looks elongated and
enlarged. However, she has no symptoms of a heart problem, and since the
heart looked enlarged, my vet listened to it and also did an EKG. The heart
sounds good, and there are no arrhythmias or murmurs, so we are going to
take a 'watch carefully' approach. Monty is almost 8, so a heart problem
would not be a big surprise.
So, for now, it appears Monty is doing pretty well. She is extremely
spunky, and everyone at the vet's office found it hard to believe she is as
old as she is. She is very bright eyed and active.
