Dear Kel:
If you are dealing with gastric ulcers (likely as you say the feces are
black), and you are seeing them less black, you already have
improvement, but don't stop now. It can take a long time for ulcers to
fully heal - so I usually recommend treating for at least 10 days after
all signs have stopped.
My ext question is always - what are you treating with, what is he
eating, and why Pepto-Bismol? The stress of Pepto (most ferrets hate
it) can worsen ulcers or even start one up. Sucralfate is a similar
compound (which temporarily patches those holes in the lining of the
stomach, so the ferret can eat without stomach pain), but it is
tolerated a whole lot better...
