I am taking Wookie in today to have it looked at and schedule removal. Thanks sooo much for your kind response. When a part of their tail is removed, does it take them long to heal, is it painful for them, will it be safe for him to have this procedure done before we leave or should I worry about his recovery when we are away. We leave on the 26th. He will be staying with my daughters 6 ferrets and his cage mate. There will be 8 of them all together but in three separate cages. I just worry about anything happening to it while we are gone or if it will be healed well enough by then to go ahead and have it removed now.

Dear Jody:

You can find out about chordomas on my site at
http://www.afip. org/ferrets - the short answer is that it needs to come
off (it does infiltrate bone and cause pain), but it is in a great
place. He'll just have a slightly smaller tail.

Can it wait for 3 weeks until you get back - sure, but let's remove it
soon after that.

With kindest regards,
