Interesting. I've had multiple ferrets for over 15 years and
religiously clean their ears every two weeks. Of the 35+ ferrets who
have lived in my home over the years (not including all the rescues
who have passed through), I have experienced an ear infection one
time, and I don't recall it being attributed to cleaning.

Could you ask your your vet to provide where this "recent thinking" is
coming from? Or perhaps some of the vets here have heard this.
Believe me, I would love nothing more than discontinuing ear
cleanings. LOL

I use a warmed ear solution and q-tips.
