I also think it would be very useful to study the DOI (duration of immunity) of the rabies vax
for ferrets, especially given that dogs and cats are approved for 3 year boosters. There have
been studies suggesting that it might last much longer in cats and dogs. It would be great if
someday the law did not require annual vaccines for these little bodies :)
Keep us up to date on what you decide!

[Moderator's Note:
Rabies is a very strictly controlled disease, and in other species that
have been studied titers are not reliable for showing if an individual
is protected. So the only way this work will be done is if it is done in
one of the few labs (CDC, U GA, one of the Kansas Universities but I
forget which one, and a few other places that meet approval to handle
that zoonotic, and if there are challenge studies done. It's going to
be a long and very expensive process by very experienced individuals
who are themselves vaccinated and cleared to work with this serious
an illness.]
