Subject: [ferrethealth] Diarrhea, still and again
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Yes, another infamouse diarrhea question again.=A0 I'll try to be brief.
=A0
Gus is 1 1/2 yr old Marshall ferret, adopted 3 mths ago in April.=A0 Around=
May, he started w/ loose stools.=A0 He had found a stash of Cheweasels, an=
d would eat them whole at a time.=A0 Thinking this caused it, I removed che=
weasels.=A0 Then after that, stools started becoming more loose.=A0 Took hi=
m to vets.=A0 Exam and fecals and bloodwork has been done.
=A0
He's been on Metronidazole, Clavamox (which is Amoxicillin), and Florfenico=
l.=A0 All the same happened, poops looked like they were starting to firm u=
p, then started to become gradually looser again, then turns into big seedy=
pieces that are completely loose and runny.=A0=A0
=A0
I've tried the pro-biotics.=A0 I've tried Imodium.=A0 I've tried a bland di=
et.=A0 Vet suggests an ultrasound next, but says it wont really give him an=
y clear course to follow.=A0 He says it will tell if his intestines are inf=
lamed and how much.=A0 I asked about a stool Culture, but says since Gus ha=
s already been on a few antibiotics, doesnt think that will help.=A0
=A0
So, several hundred dollars later, I still dont have any answers, and once =
again, Gus' poops are in the form of big seedy pieces, totally runny and lo=
ose.=A0 He's otherwise active and eating and drinking normally.
=A0
I would really really appreciate any ideas if anyone has any.
=A0
Thank you!
Andrea
