Subject: [ferrethealth] too many mails? vacation? -- Admin. Reminder
To: fhl <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Yahoogroups is not the most transparent of services to use, but those
who are getting individual mails can instead select "digest" when
joining or can change later to digest.

Go to any Yahoogroup to which you belong and under the banner ad on
top notice on your right the light blue print. The selection most to
the right is labelled "My Groups" but it can be hard to spot straight
off with some visual problems due to the size and color choice
Yahoogroups made.

Click open
My Groups
and notice that it shows the groups to which you belong and on your
right the settings you have.

On your left on the top you will see
"Edit my Groups"
Click that open.

Notice that it lists your groups and has scrolls to change your
settings. You can have individual mails, digests, special notices
only, or no mail. I usually advise special notices only over "no
mail" because people virtually never use special notices except when
it is something people really have to see. (There are still people
who missed that we moved from Smartgroups years ago because they never
got mails or never read administrative mails; a few still send angry
note thinking they have been blocked or banned when actually
Smartgroups no longer exists.)

Once you have made your changes just click the "Save Changes" button
near the top.

Exception: If you plan to be away it pays to change to "no mail" a
few days beforehand to avoid having enough sequential bounces and
extra moderator work (about 2 weeks worth) to lead to automatic
removal. Then just change back later.

Many people find the Yahoogroups default setting of individual mails
to be overwhelming, but love it once they change to the digest
format. Replying from the digest is not the same, though, so just
know that, and play with it a bit.

At this time of year this information always tends to help somebody.
