It's not the sleep time but the amount of time in darkness. If I
recall right the amount to aim for is about 14 hours of
darkness in each 24.

One thing we have done is we got an amber light (and the one
we found is also a low energy use bulb) for their room to use
during the after dusk hours. Amber is the least disruptive wave
length of light for melatonin production by the body.
