Subject: [ferrethealth] How long does it take for hormones to settle down post-adrenal surgery
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi,
My 2 year-old gib, Cannoli had adrenal surgery on July 9th. Right
adrenal removed. He was let out of his cage confinement over the
weekend and is displaying his pre-surgery behaviours (i.e., aggression,
lots of scratching, etc.). I am wondering how long it takes after
adrenal surgery for the hormones to settle down? I searched the
archives and couldn't find an answer to this question. Someone
suggested to me that it can take as long as 4 - 6 weeks. Can someone
confirm this for me?
His left adrenal looked normal and therefore, was not biopsied. I am
hoping that the left is not also a problem and that it is more a matter
of hormones needing time to settle down.
Thank you for sharing your experience with your adrenal surgery fuzzies
and or your knowledge.
