Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] poop
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

When I first brought home Clyde (and Bonnie actually) his poop was really grainy. Sometimes it was even a little mucousy. I took him to the vet and they said he had Gastroenteritis (basically irritation in his intestines). The vet put him on Amoxocillan for 5 days. He said it was probably the mix of stress from moving and the new food we switched him to. After about 2-3 days on the meds he was fine.
The vet said if he is acting normal, and not seeming to be sick not to worry about strange poops unless it is ongoing. (He pooped funny and was at the vet the next day!!) He said in young ones, any kind of stress or change in food can cause diarrhea.
Hope this helps.
