He may need more antibiotics to get rid of whatever kind of infection is going on. Also, you may want to try getting rid of any kind of litter and try using just newspaper. It's easy to clean up and changes several times daily and there's no potential allergies related to it. Wash the bedding more often or try a different kind of bedding. Try putting an air filter near the cage.
For weight loss, try supplementing Ferretvite as a treat, or mixed in with some soup. It's high in calories and vitamins.
