To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi, Joos. :) Thank you for writing. Pumpkin can be effectively and safely
used to move possible obstruction hazards from a ferret's intestines so that
they don't become blocked. Products like FerretLax, has the main ingredient
as petroleum jelly/Vaseline with flavoring, such as ferretone, to make it
palatable for the ferret. The vaseline lubricates and 'can' help move
things through the digestive tract, but some things cannot be moved that
way. Pumpkin, from what I've been told and what I've read, doesn't harden
in the intestines and is purely a fiber that moves through pretty quickly as
long as it is given in small amounts and with lots of fluid such as Uncle
Jim's Duk Soup. :)

Thanks again. :)

Ella
